Mention Black Shiver and many people's mind will immediately be drawn to an image of a glistening sweep of neve, rising from the limestone bench at Ingleborough's foot, almost to its summit cairn. Alas, North Yorkshire's premier winter route is an ephemeral line, rarely forming and requiring very specific conditions. Another Black Shiver also commences from the limestone bench and also requires specific meteological conditions to contemplate. Unlike its sibling, the Gully, Black Shiver Pot is not a fleeting route, its lines hewn from the very rock of the mountain.
